New Stuff!

We've got some new stuff in the shop at
(see previous posts for freebies lists)

First is a collab kit of QP's. These were created by the CT & design team members using Britt-ish Designs Brown Eyed Girl Kit. Aren't they wonderful??

You can purchase this set of East Start Quick Pages here. Just think of how quick you can complete an album with these beautiful pages!

You might recognize the one in the upper right corner - it was my entry for the QP exchange. I've already had it printed - and that glitter looks so real - I could hardly believe it. I actually used this page as the cover of a Shutterfly album I made for my mom for Christmas! She loved it, and I had trouble parting with it, and may have to order one for myself!

Sunshine Digiscraps recently released a Casual Friday kit:
You can get it here.

That's all the time I have for now, I promised some little girls that I'd paint their toe nails before we go to Grandma & Grandpa's. I've started them young - they want their toes to look cute when they go in the hot tub, LOL! Aren't they funny???

Last Day!

Just popping back in to remind you that today is the last day of this huge sale at ScrapGirls! (Scroll down to previous posts for freebie lists with previews!)

LO Share

Just wanted to share this LO that I made. Can you tell I've got a thing for ladybugs? If you're so inclined, you can leave me some love in my gallery

I've kinda got a thing for ladybugs and I chose a lady bug birthday theme for my DD1's second birthday party. DH made a huge ladybug bean bag toss game, I decorated ladybug cupcakes, and we had black & red everywhere! It was so cute.Template from Kristie's Template Challenge. All papers & elements from Andilynn Designs - Let's Polka Kit available at Font Teen DL from internet. Atomic Cupcake Sparkle Action added to fonts & some ladybugs. Drop Shadows by Traci Murphy.

Mom's Letter to Santa

I got this email from a good friend, and thought I'd share it with all you Moms :-)

Dear Santa,
I've been a good mom all year. I've fed, cleaned and cuddled my children on demand, visited the doctor's office more than my doctor and sold sixty-two cases of candy bars to raise money to plant a shade tree on the school playground.

I was hoping you could spread my list out over several Christmases, since I had to write this letter with my son's red crayon, on the back of a receipt in the laundry room between cycles, and who knows when I'll find anymore free time in the next 18 years.

Here are my Christmas wishes:I'd like a pair of legs that don't ache (in any color, except purple, which I already have) and arms that don't hurt or flap in the breeze, but are strong enough to pull my screaming child out of the candy aisle in the grocery store.

I'd also like a waist, since I lost mine somewhere in the seventh month of my last pregnancy.

If you're hauling big ticket items this year I'd like fingerprint resistant windows and a radio that only plays adult music, a television that doesn't broadcast any programs containing talking animals, and a refrigerator with a secret compartment behind the crisper where I can hide to talk on the phone.

On the practical side, I could use a talking doll that says, "Yes, Mommy" or "You're So Smart, Mommy" to boost my parental confidence, along with two kids who don't fight and three pairs of jeans that haven't been stained with chocolate milk or permanent marker.I could also use a recording of Tibetan monks chanting "Don't eat in the living room" and "Take your hands off your brother," because my voice seems to be just out of my children's hearing range and can only be heard by the dog.

If it's too late to find any of these products, I'd settle for enough time to brush my teeth and comb my hair in the same morning, or the luxury of eating food warmer than room temperature without it being served in a Styrofoam container.

If you don't mind, I could also use a few Christmas miracles to brighten the holiday season. Would it be too much trouble to declare ketchup a vegetable? It will clear my conscience immensely. It would be helpful if you could coerce my children to help around the house without demanding payment as if they were the bosses of an organized crime family.

Well, Santa, the buzzer on the dryer is calling and my son saw my feet under the laundry room door. I think he wants his crayon back.

Have a safe trip and remember to leave your wet boots by the door and come in and dry off so you don't catch cold. Help yourself to cookies on the table but don't eat too many or leave crumbs on the carpet.
Yours Always,

...P.S. One more can cancel all my requests if you can keep my children healthy, safe and of course, young enough to always believe in Santa.

It's begining to look a lot like Christmas...

Today was such a wonderful day. I'm starting to feel more like my old self (I think that's a good thing, LOL) and I took the girls to run some fun errands today.

First, we stopped to tell Santa what we wanted for Christmas. I (with the help of a very picky DD1) picked out some adorable Christmas dresses. So I made sure to get some shots for our X-mas cards. DD2 would only get close enough to Santa to give him a high five. I guess this is better than the screaming that took place last year. Here's some pictures from today, and a LO from LAST year's Santa visit.

(above is the one I think I like for the X-mas Card)

DD1 is very serious about getting that Biggest Little Pet Shop!

Silly girls :-)

Here is last year's photos:

Was I a mean mom for making her scream there while I took the pic??? Poor Santa!
Here's the credits for the LO:

After pictures, we stopped for some lunch, then off to the Disney Store & Old Navy to get some gifts – BTW, this is much harder to do with the kids now that they are older. They paid a lot more attention than I thought they would! On the way out, we stopped for a ride on the Merry-go-round. They were so, so, so well behaved, and we had a million people commenting on how beautiful they looked in their dresses.

When we came home DD2 went down for a nap – but has recently decided that she's not napping anymore – can I tell you how much I am loving this???? She really still needs that nap, so I'm trying hard to get her to take it, but she keeps climbing out of her bed. So, around 5:30 she is just oh, so charming with her tantrums. Anyhow, she refused the nap, so she "helped" us to make treats to DD2's holiday party for school tomorrow. She ate way more than she made. We had a lot of fun doing it. I'll try to post more picks & a recipe for the treats another day.

Overdoing it….

I'm still recouping from my surgery. While I am able to get up and move around, climb stairs, etc, it doesn't take much to tire me out. Well today was my first day home with my kids alone and decided that that wasn't quite enough to wear me out. I decided to sweep my kitchen floor – seriously it was gross, I almost took pictures to post here, but thought you might not like me anymore… besides, that's what happens when you leave men to clean up meals after toddlers & preschoolers, LOL! I really should have mopped it too, but I knew I had another project for this afternoon so I decided to wait a bit.

My second project was one I actually intended to do before my appendix decided to give me trouble J I had purchased all of the ingredients to make several lasagnas. One for that day, and the rest for the freezer. I was starting to get nervous that those ingredients would go bad if I let it go much longer. So, I made 3 lasagnas with the "help" of DD1. It was fun, but I am worn out. So, it's really nice to sit in front of my PC and make this list to relax J

My Brown Eyed Girls (oh, and a list…)

I feel like it's been ages since I scrapped. So, last night, I made this cute (if I do say so myself) little LO of my brown-eyed girls. The Kit I used is actually called Brown Eyed Girl (by Britt-ish Designs).

I entered the LO in a Quick Page Exchange at ScrapMatters. They have a fun QP challenge each month. Everyone who submits a LO for the exchange will get ALL of the QP's submitted for the challenge – pretty cool, huh? You could actually make one LO and get an entire album worth of coordinating pages. You could use it to catch up on your own scrapping, or to create a gift album…

Here's today's list ~ enjoy!

I am in dreamland….

I’m listening to Josh Groban’s X-mas CD – Noel…ahhh…

It’s been a while since I’ve been here, do you miss me??? THANK YOU SO, SO, SO MUCH for all of the wonderful comments and emails. It really warms my heart to read these things. I am starting to feel better from my surgery. I’m a bit light headed, and weak, but that could be from the cold I’ve now contracted.

My family is still ill (are you shocked… I am, seriously, it’s been a whole month I think). Both kids have new colds, DD1 still has ear infections, and has started a second antibiotic. DD2 now has roseola – which is one of those childhood illnesses that we all get – basically she’s got a very yucky rash that doesn’t seem to be bothering her too much. Yuck, yuck yuck!

I do have to say that my family is so fortunate to be surrounded by friends and family. They have been such a help to us this past week. My mom stayed the night with my kids while I was in the hospital, she took a day (or maybe 2) off to help DH. My sister came in the middle of the night last week to stay with my kids while I was sent back to emergency. My MIL has also helped with kids too. I have had lots of friends send over meals for us too. I don’t know how we would have survived with out them, so Thank you to each of them also.

I know I sound like I’m accepting an Emmy here, but I also want to say just how grateful I am to my DH. He has been so sick with this cold he’s had ( gone to the dr. 2x’s convinced its turned to something much more serious), he’s barely sleeping because each time he lays down he has a terrible coughing fit – and he’s had to take care of all of us. He’s been a real trooper – trying to figure out how and when for the kids, keeping track of meds & Dr. appts, wiping noses, cleaning house, doing laundry. It’s really been all on him this past week. So DH, if you are reading this, I just want to say a big thank you to you. I really appreciate everything you’ve done, and will not even complain about you doing laundry (because I have clean underwear & jammies). THANK YOU!

And now that I have turned in to a big, weepy sap (did you know I’m a big sap????), I’ll give you all a list of wonderful freebies. Be sure to leave some lovin for these designers, they work so hard to make these things for you.

Where do I start?

Where do I start? My family is continuing to be ill. DD2 came down with Pinkeye & an ear infection last Friday. DH still has nasty cold. Both girls seem to have caught new colds. To top it off, I went to the emergency room yesterday with appendicitis! I had surgery last evening to have it removed.

I'm actually back at home now, resting. I'm pretty sore, it's sorta uncomfortable to move around a lot. I don't imagine I'll be getting to do my lists for the next few days, but we'll see. I'm just popping in to let you know about it, because I know if I don't post for a few days, I get emails checking to make sure I'm okay :-)

Hope everyone is doing well. As always, please feel free to post your freebies in my Cbox (on side bar). I noticed there are a few there already.

I did some Black Friday Shopping and got some really good deals. My best deal was on a NEW COMPUTER!!! I am so, so, so happy to have gotten this. Mine current HD is 96% full. I don't think I'll even have room to put any pictures on it from Christmas this year. So, the timing is great. We got a new Acer computer with 160G HD, new monitor, and printer, virus software & router for $229!

I do have to say, I'll never try this again. Here's what happened. I saw the ad for it in Thursday's paper. I decided that I'd go wait at Circuit City at 1:00am Friday to get it. (I'm sure they only had 7-15 of them). Then I went to my moms' that afternoon. My Uncle - who is the king of Black Friday Shopping told me if I really wanted it, I'd better be there by 9:00pm Thursday. So, my mother and I went at 8:15 to get in line. I was #7 - great shot at getting that PC!

So, we're sitting there, chatting with the folks in line, freezing - yes, it was snowing pretty good. and at about 10:15, the mall's security company came around and told us we could not wait there, we were trespassing and had to leave. We couldn't come back until 4:00 am. We told him that the store would be handing out vouchers at 3:00. He told us if we did not leave he'd call the police. We couldn't wait in the parking lot, we'd have to move our cars off the mall property. Or, we could go sit in the bar that was right next to Circuit City, until they closed at 2:00, then we'd have to leave. We didn't leave, police came, said we'd be arrested - umm ARRESTED?? - we went to the bar.

So now, we're in the bar, drinking Pepsi, all bundled up for the snow - boy didn't I look cute in my Dad's Carhart Jacket & my mom's snow pants, and sisters winter boots (I left from my folks house & borrowed gear), sitting in this bar! LOL! :-) We'd made some friends in line, and sat with them in the bar. More folks piled in all evening. People were getting drunk. The news channels came, my mother got interviewed twice. The whole time I'm thinking I'm never going to beat these people in the mad dash to the door to get that computer, I should just go home. But someone always convinced me to stay.

At 2:30 the bar kicked everyone out. We were told to wait in our cars, because 1.) They didn't want the drunk people to drive, and 2.) it was now a bit icy, and they were afraid that if they made us leave, there would be alot of accidents at 4:00 as cars raced to get the door. They also decided we could line up at 3:00. At 2:50 the mad dash began. I was smooshed up by the door with a group of about 80 people - the other couple hundred lined up behind us on the sidewalk. 2 people were throwing up (they were in the bar too - yuck!)

At 4:00 the police & security people backed the line of people up and started pulling people out of the group by tens and lining us up. People in the back of the group ended up in the back of the line. I think I was about 75th in line now and so sad, certain I'd not have a shot at that computer.

But, 2 of the people we'd met in the original line had remembered what it was that I had wanted and GOT ME A VOUCHER FOR IT!!! Isn't that amazing??? I am so thankful for these kind hearted strangers. I literally cried. I got my computer! I was shocked & overjoyed.

I know that we could not have afforded to buy a more expensive computer right now, or in the near future. So this was the only way I'd get one unless my folks bought me one for Christmas - which I don't think would have happened.

After Circuit City, I was dead tired, so mom & I went to Starbucks for breakfast then decided to go to Toys R Us. Got a bunch of shopping done there and went to Target. I've not stayed up all night in quite a few years. I was dead tired! So, we called it a day and went home to bed.

Did you go shopping on Black Friday?? What kind of deals did you get??

Thanksgiving Humor

My DH sent these to me - so I thought I'd share the laughs :-) BTW, I posted a list early this am, so scroll down to the next post to check it out ...

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope everyone has a wonderful Turkey Day. My family will be traveling for the day. We'll be going to my SIL's house for dinner, and then over to my folks house for dessert. They only live a few minutes apart, so it's working out really well this year. I've only got to make a salad & a dessert - I can so handle that :-)

I'm also deciding if I'm going to get my butt out of bed early (3am ish) to do some Black Friday shopping - It's so early, but you can get some wonderful deals. For those of you who don't know about Black Friday, here's the scoop. Every year the day after Thanksgiving stores open up at the crack of dawn & folks line up hours before that with the hopes that they will be able to get their hands on an amazing sale item before it sells out. It's really crazy. One year I waited in line at a toy store for an hour and a half just to pay for the toy! Like I said, crazy - but great deals. It's called black friday because it is the day that stores hope that the extra profits from these sales will bring their bottom line out of the red and into black. Or maybe it's because it's still pitch black out when all of us crazy loons start lining up! :-)

Speaking of Black Friday, ScrapMatters is having a huge sale...

Most of the designers will be having a huge sale. I'm so sorry to say that I'm not sure that I'll have a grab bag ready. My kids have been sick for the last few weeks, which has left me with almost no time to scrap or design. And, to top it off, I just realized today that my hard drive is 96% full! It's only a 40G. I knew it was up there, and have been cleaning it up like crazy - deleting old files & programs, but there's not much left I can toss. All of my kits & stuff are on my external HD, so it won't even help to toss some of those. Guess what I'll be asking Santa for this Christmas??? It's running so ssssssllllllloooooooowwwwwwwww!

Speaking of Designers we've got a new one at Scrapmatters! I'll give you a hint, it's someone regularly on this list & that you all love! Come see who it is here...

Check this out!

Check this out…

Scrap Girls is having a huge sale! 21.7% off almost everything! Check out Scrap Girls now!

This is one of my all time favorite scrap purchases (yes even freebie hunters make a few now and then, LOL):
Learn to do advanced scrapbooking tricks in Photoshop Elements with More Scrapbooking Software Secrets Revealed for PSE

I learned so much about scrapping & my software, I was really amazed! They've also got other versions for beginners, pros, & other types of software programs. Click the link above and navigate to their shop to find more.

Also, I know I talk about this a LOT – but it's something that I think is really important – Backing up your stuff! As I am searching for my blog freebies, I regularly ( at lease once a week) read about someone losing their pictures & scrapbook stuff.

If you are putting it off please don't – I don't want to read about you losing your kids baby pictures, grandmas 100th birthday celebration, everything you've ever designed … you get the idea. Once it's gone, it's gone – and it can happen to anyone.

Since I read about it so much, I went searching for another option for myself. I do back up my pictures on CD's, but they don't last forever, and although I mean to make copies to store at my moms (incase of flood or fire here), I've not actually done it yet. So, I found another option called Carbonite. It's an online back up system that is fairly inexpensive (5 bucks a month!) and does the backing up for you- automatically! How cool is that??? Right now, they are offering a FREE 15 day trial so you can test it out (okay, you really have no excuses now…)

We actually had a brown out here yesterday which sent me running to my PC almost in tears, praying please don't fry, please don't fry… It was OK this time, but I'm going to sign up for Carbonite. I've heard that their customer service is wonderful. They are working on a version for MAC users & a version that backs up external hard drives.

Let me know what you think if you try it out. I'll post some more info once I sign up.

Did you ever have one of those DUH! moments? You know, the why didn't I think of that sooner moments. Today, I was trolling the web looking for some fun brushes and had one of those DUH moments!

Anyone who collects brushes knows it can be a pain to find just the right one when you need it. I have a brush viewer, but am not really impressed by it. I was thinking that I would take each of my brush sets and create a jpg file with each brush in the set so I could easily view it. But, ummm….I've got a LOT of brushes and the thought of actually completing this task didn't rank high on my to do list.

So today, as I 'm adding to my brush collection (here comes the DUH moment) I realized that I don't have to make this file myself. In most cases the designer of the brushes offers up a preview of the brushes. I just needed to right click on the preview and save it in the same folder as the abr (brush) file. So, before I load my brush into photoshop, I can view the preview at any size, zoom in, whatever. Now, I've just got to find those brushes again to get the previews :-)

Something else I've been doing lately? I've been organizing my layered templates. My scrapping process is first, find the pictures I want to scrap, then arrange them on the page, and add papers & elements. Pretty simple. I've been a bit pressed for time lately, so I've been looking for templates to help me get those creative juices flowing. I've got over 100 templates (I know, if you read this blog regularly, you know this file could be MUCH larger, lol). Here's where the trouble comes in. I've got 2 pictures to scrap, and have to look through over 100 templates to find just the right one – pain in the keester!

So, I've been sorting my templates into smaller folders. I'm organizing them by the number of photos each template can hold.

I've got folders for :

  • 1 photo
  • 2-3 photos
  • 4-5 photos
  • 6 or more photos (yup there's a few out there!)
  • 2 page LO's
  • Card Templates

Is this a bit obsessive?? Maybe, but, I'm hoping it will help me scrap faster :-)

Okay now for another update on my family… I'm about to put us into quarantine, LOL! We are still sick, and not really seeing and immediate end to it. I've been obsessive about hand washing & sanitizer, but it's not helping. In the past 3 weeks, we've ALL had colds, I've had a stomach virus, DD2 had Croup, DD1 now has pink eye & a double ear infection. Doc says DD2 will most likely get the pink eye, and 80% of kids under 5 who have pink eye will get an ear infection – wonderful! My kids have been absolute troopers with all the sickness. Thanks so much to everyone who has posted or emailed me to wish us all a speedy recovery – it's really appreciated.

I also want to thank everyone who left me wonderful comments about my free quick pages and Little Pumpkin Kit. I'm working on another kit, but my vision of it and my ability to actually make it look that way don't quite match – so it's taking me a while to figure it out. I'm sure al the designers out there can think remember this from when they first started out! :-)

Since this is the longest post I've had in weeks, I'll stop now, and post the project I've been working on next time…

Okay I'll stop talking now, and give you that list! Have a great day, and don't forget to leave some love!

Just wanted to share a LO of my girls. I actually made the LO for a Heritage Challenge over at well, it was too late to enter the contest, but I still made it anyhow :-)

I’ve been MIA!

It has been quite a week here. My family has gone from one illness to the next, but it appears that everyone is once again (knock on wood…) recovering. We've had colds and stomach viruses, and my DD2 came down with Croup on Friday night.

So, I'm sure you can all understand why I've been MIA! But, I'm back, and I've brought a list with me :-) It's short, but SWEET! Enjoy

BTW, please leave some love for these folks who work so hard to give you these fab gifts for free. I'm sure it takes them hours to do this, so a few seconds of your time while you're waiting for your download isn't too much to ask, is it?

I lost 7 lbs in the first week!

" I lost 7 lbs in the first week"! Have you seen these "diet commercials" on TV, you know the ones where they don't really look like the same before and after pictures? Well, I can actually say this – I'm one of those people…. well, not exactly one of those people… I had a NASTY stomach bug this past Sunday, and I lost 7 lbs in 6 hours! Ha, I've got those commercial girls beat! Hahaha! I'll spare you the details other than to say, I'm glad it's over & that the rest of my family did not get it. Oh yeah, about 3 of the 7 lbs found its way back, LOL – oh well, at least I can laugh about it!

So, between the BUG, and a cold that's kicking my butt, I've been completely wiped out. I've actually been in bed the last few nights around 9:00 (GASP – completely unheard of for a digi scrapper – I know, head is hanging low in shame…) But, I'm starting to feel much better now – and I've got a new list for ya! My goodness there have been some BUSY designers out there – fab list tonight – ENJOY!
